I don’t claim to be a plant expert but if clients require a full or partial planting scheme then I liaise with Colin McBeath of Quercus Garden Plants, whose nursery is based at Springfield, Fife. Colin is a real plantsman and is particularly specialised in low maintenance plants that will thrive in the Scottish climate regardless of situation and soil conditions. Regardless if you employ me to carry out any work in your garden I highly recommend a visit to his nursery – an old walled garden within a large estate.
We cover all aspects of Garden Landscaping which include but not exclusive to the following:
I lay a lot of natural Indian sandstone patios which look fantastic and will enhance
any garden. The natural beauty – colour and textures -
There is a huge variation in the types of fencing and screening available depending on the client’s requirements. From a strained wire rabbit proof fencing, through to a simple post and rail to the more expensive fully private fences and decorative screens.
These are a great way of cutting down on the maintenance required in a garden. Very
popular with clients who may want an easy to tend space to grow some vegetables/fruit.
For parents -
Softwood or hardwood, ground level or raised with stairs and balustrade, decking is a good option for either extending the living space directly outside patio doors or having a separate area for table/chairs away from the house. Well built and looked after decking can be a good option for many gardens.
A well designed and built driveway will make an immediate statement for any property in addition to providing access to the house and car parking. Whereas paths play an important function in linking various parts of the garden and make the garden accessible to all weathers.
Boundary, raised beds and retaining, walls serve various purposes and can be built with different materials depending on the type of wall required, budget and preferred materials. I have built walls in rendered concrete blocks, reclaimed natural stone, timber sleepers and the same stone as many of the newer houses are built with to help marry the garden and house.
Most clients still desire at least some part of their garden to have a lawn – especially those with children. A well laid, well cared for lawn will enhance most gardens. I use a local turf supplier who provides excellent quality turf for that instant swathe of green.
We hold full public liability insurance and are able to undertake clearance work either of commercial or domestic nature to suit the client’s requirements.
In addition to building new walls in stone, Creating Eden can repair fallen or damaged walls and to repoint walls (with lime mortar if required) on a maintenance basis.
